Double Decker Living

South East Coachworks and Double Decker Living Limited (DDL) aim to effectively recycle and revive the much-loved icon that is the double-decker bus so that it continues working in the community. Traditionally a bus is a form of transport that is accessible to anyone and everyone, so we work to ensure that this remains the case, whilst adapting the vehicles for different and new uses.

Our bus conversions are becoming increasingly involved in helping with the issues that are present within all of our communities, such as drug and alcohol misuse, training and guidance for job seekers and counseling services. Simultaneously we can make our conversions available to film crews working in urban areas, festival and show attendees/exhibitors and private individuals who need a form of short-term accommodation for any number of reasons.

Although the majority of buses we use as the base of our conversions are ex-London Transport vehicles, and we are located in the South East of England; our services and facilities are available throughout the UK. We are always keen to explore different ways in which our vehicles can be utilised whether as part of a multi-agency venture, a pilot scheme to evaluate effectiveness or simply used in an exciting and new manner for any area of a community.

Creating sustainable communities is crucial to the society we now live in as a measure towards reducing homelessness, encouraging the family atmosphere, cutting down crime and providing a wide range of everyday services to every single individual. SEC/DDL are always looking at ways of making sure our conversions are part of this essential process and work with a number of agencies and organisations to ensure this is increasingly the case.

Our organisation reviews methodology on a regular basis to ensure that we are working not only as an effective and successful company but also as a genuinely beneficial component of tackling issues faced in the modern world. We aim to work with the client using the most cost-effective and least environmentally damaging methods, to bring their vision to fruition.
